information and reflection about Joseph Case High School

Volume 15, No. 16 *** April 8, 2019

Remember: early dismissal of school

A gentle reminder to Case families that the high school will dismiss students at 12:37 p.m., on Tuesday, April 9, for the final release day of the 2018-2019 school year.

This Thursday: our third annual Tweets

Joseph Case High School’s New Media Club will be holding its third annual Tweets, a student film festival and award ceremony in the style of the Oscars on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 7 p.m.

Complete with red carpet, paparazzi and fresh popcorn, the event consists of presenters, short comic bits and full short films. Awards will be given to the best films and performances as chosen by a panel consisting of both Joseph Case High School faculty and industry-professionals.

The event begins with “red carpet” photos starting at 6:30 p.m.. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 at the door and at all lunches this week.

All proceeds go towards the New Media program at Joseph Case High School with scholarships benefiting graduating students pursuing media studies.

Summer Reading Input

I will be convening a small Case parent group who may be interested in a voice in summer reading before the Tweets on Thursday night.

Interested members of the Case community are invited to join me in the Learning Commons at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 11, for a brief meeting to begin conversations regarding the selection of a schoolwide summer reading title.

This idea was presented to me by some Case families after the announcement of last year's schoolwide title. Family voice matters and is heard!

Term III Report Cards

Term III report cards will be available electronically via Aspen/X2 at the close of the school day on Friday, April 12.

Term III report cards will determine athletic and extra-curricular eligibility for the remainder of the school year.

Case Scholarship Trust, Inc.

Scholarship applications for the Case High Scholarship Trust, Inc., are available in guidance. Students are required to set up an interview time with the Trustees Committee for April 29 or April 30. Interviews can be scheduled in guidance.

A much-deserved public thank you to our high school's outstanding Assistant Principal Chris Costa. We are a better place for learning because of his positivity, wealth of knowledge, and quiet strength. Please take a moment sometime this week and thank him for all he does for students and teachers alike at Joseph Case High School.

I am grateful to be his peer and his friend.

Cheers!
