Barclay Bulletin

January 30, 2022

Upcoming Dates

February is a short month, but it will be filled with some exciting days. Our school has decided to embrace Fridays in February as an opportunity for unity and spirit. Every Friday we will have a different theme, students don't have to wear themed clothing to participate.

February 4 - Let's Go USA - to celebrate the opening of the 2022 Winter Olympics, we will be wearing team USA Red, White, and Blue.

February 11 - Have a Super Weekend - The Super Bowl is on Sunday, wear

your favorite sports team t-shirt or jersey.

February 18 - P2C Day - Students will participate in our second Power to Choose Day of the year. We will focus on social emotional growth on this day and encourage everybody to wear Brockport colors.

Black History Month

Black History Month has been recognized every February in the United States since 1976. Traditionally we have had classroom teachers highlighting achievements independently during the month of February, which can lead to different experiences for students in school. This year I want to highlight achievements differently, providing opportunities for Barclay students to begin to explore the achievements in a more consistent manner. This might mean more specific placement of books around the school and library, morning announcements, or posters highlighting prominent Americans.

I am including some resources with this Barclay Bulletin. The resources are intended for adults, however, they may provide some context for you should you choose to have conversations with your children at home.

February 2, 2022

Groundhog's Day this year will be 2/2/22. There may be some celebrations of all things 2 on this day.
