A Look at GSCS Innovation
Cowan Road Elementary recently held Edcamp for their students. Students were grouped into the grade bands of 1st - 2nd and 3rd-5th. Students were able to pick the learning experiences in which they wanted to participate. Teachers incorporated the four C's of the 21st Century Classroom (Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication). Teachers reported that students were engaged and well-behaved.

- Art
- Writing skills
- Poetry
- Design a Partheon
- Coding

Makerspace at Jackson Road
Jackson Road has incorporated creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication into their Makerspace. Students and teachers go the makerspace to diy, create, invent, and learn. This area is buzzing with learning as students learn to create things by making, producing, creating, collaborating, solving, thinking - LEARNING!
Some of the activities happening in the makerspace:
- Learning to sew
- Programming a Sphero
- Building a maze for a robot
- Creating three dimensional shapes
- Programming a Makey Makey to play the piano using a Chomebook
Create Huge Posters!
Many times, you need a larger poster, but can't make it anywhere to get it enlarged. Now, you can do it at home! Go to http://www.blockposters.com/. You simply upload what you need to turn into a poster. It will slice it it into blocks, then, print each block, and assemble together. For free, you can create a poster up to five pages wide. If you need something larger, you will need to pay a small fee.
