Welcome to the #PandaFamily Mr. Chutz!
A Message from Mr. Chutz
My name is Zack Chutz and on Monday, January 6th, I am excited to be joining the #PandaFamily as your new assistant principal! I have been a #PandaDad since 2015, and I now have a 4th grader and 1st grader here at school (and another Panda who will start in 2024). Before coming to Pittsboro Elementary, I was an assistant principal at Northwood High School, a math teacher at Horton Middle School, and a high school math and science teacher in Northampton County. I have been where our students are going, and now I will be part of where they come from.
Though my teaching resume doesn't include any elementary experience, I used to teach Sunday School music to 2nd through 6th graders when I was in college, and I am super excited to work with elementary school students again. I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone in the #PandaFamily!
See you on Monday!
-Mr. Chutz
AIG Referral Window
The AIG Referral Window is now open until January 10, 2020.
Goals of the referral process:
Open the pool of referred students as broadly as possible.
Attend to under-represented populations in our district.
Present parents and students with data.
Remind stakeholders of the availability of the program.
A teacher, parent/guardian, classmate or any person having academic knowledge of the student may refer any student in grades kindergarten through twelve for evaluation.

Box Tops for Education
Did you know that Box Tops for Education has gone digital? There is now an app available for both Android and iOs that allows you to snap pictures of your receipts and earn money for the school all year round. Check out the short video about how to use the new app!

Sign up to be a Thrift Store Volunteer!
Our volunteers at the Thrift Shop last year helped us to add over $20,600 to our budget for this year. This money pays for field trips, classroom and teacher support, schoolwide projects and clubs and a lot of fun events for the students and community.
We are really struggling to get volunteers to come out for workgroups this year. If the 6-8pm window isn’t working for your schedule, feel free to drop in AT ANY TIME and help in the store! Ask for the manager on duty and let them know you have some time and want to volunteer for Pittsboro Elementary School.
We have our workgroups scheduled through the end of 2019. Check out the schedule, grab a fellow mom or dad, and come out for just ONE workgroup! The hours add up and mean so much for the school!
