Monthly Parenting Tip
One newsletter a month, I will feature a parenting tip picked up from a book, article, experience, or another parent. This month I am highlighting how to help limit screen time. Kids have more access to the internet and screens than ever before, and it's challenging to monitor what they are exposed to. Whether your children are younger or in their teens, the Family Link app lets you set digital ground rules to help guide them as they learn, play, and explore online. This is a great resource to help with online safety and digital boundaries!

Weekly "Student To Parent" Communication
Tuesday Email
Starting on Tuesday, August 27th, students will begin emailing their parents each week. To prepare students for post-secondary success, we want them to begin developing 21st century communication skills, as well as responsibility and ownership of their learning. So each week, students will be emailing a screenshot of their grades from Skyward as well as a summary of what they need to do to either maintain or improve those grades. They will also use this email to communicate any special events or information they want shared. Please make sure you have an updated email address in Skyward and be patient with your students as they learn proper email etiquette!

Macbook Tip
The Macbook protective cases are extremely difficult to put back on. Your student should know not to take it off, but if for some reason they do, the video below shows how to get it back on.

Back to School Night
Schedules are very busy during the fall and it's tough to fit everything in. We had a great turnout at our "Back-to-School Night," but if you were unable to attend and have questions, please reach out to your classroom teachers. The theme of the night was "Panther Pride" (check out the Thought For The Week video), and we talked about how students can control their Attitude and Effort.
Sports Practices
Cross Country We don't often think about how athletics and other extra-curricular activities impact the classroom positively, but they do. Students' minds and bodies are challenged in unfamiliar ways and they strengthen and adapt. | Volleyball The hot temperatures have forced our sports teams to adapt and overcome, adding a level of rigor not just physically but also mentally as they are coming to compete under stressful conditions. | Football Our student-athletes are rising to the challenge and overcoming obstacles, which not only teaches them self-discipline, but also that they are capable of doing more rigorous activities than they once thought. |
