Principal Graham's Nov Newsletter
Important things to know at Arcadia!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you are enjoying fall so far and things are good with you and your family. Our Arcadia family has been hard at work helping students learn and grow. Our aim is to help them be good citizens and productive in society. Our school expectations (rules) are designed to help them reach their potential by training them in habits and skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
The following are things we are doing to achieve our goals and important information for you to know:
Wild About Literacy Night Parent Survey
We would like to know what you thought of Wild About Literacy Night. Please fill out the short survey to give us your feedback to improve future family engagement events. The link to the survey is: Arcadia Family Engagement Survey
When to Stay Home from School
We have had a lot of illness this year and have sent many students home who have thrown up or are sick. Please see the attachment about this on when to keep students home.
Kidnapping Scam Alert
There is an attachment to this email about a kidnapping scam that has been going around. Please read the attached document and be aware.
Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break is November 22nd through the 24th. We hope you and your family have a wonderful time together celebrating thanksgiving and being thankful for everything we have and enjoy.
We Need Students to Join Band!
We have very low numbers in band. We are sending out one more notice to let parents know they can sign up their child by reaching out to our Band teacher, Sarah Mumford or by calling or emailing Colin at Riverton Music (801-254-4489 or colinc@rivertonmusic.com). There is a fee involved but those parents who need financial assistance can contact me to apply for a fee waiver.
If we do not have enough students to have a band, we may combine with another school or not have band this year.
Volunteering at School
We welcome volunteers at our school to work in classrooms, help supervise during lunch recesses, attend field trips, and do clerical work for teachers. Anything you’re able to contribute is much appreciated. Always remember to check in at the front office and sign the volunteer book to record your hours.
Community Council
We still need one more parent to be on our Community Council.
Meeting Schedule: 10/26, 11/30, 12/19, 1/25, 2/29, 3/28, 4/25 & 5/23.
Please email me if you’re interested and I will send you a candidacy form.
Principal’s Parenting Tip of the Month
Give appropriate and well-thought-out consequences. Be consistent – if you say you’re going to do something, be sure to do it. Don’t say things you can’t follow through on. Parents who encounter behavioral challenges with children often are not consistent and do not do what they say they will do.
Parent Resources
The Granite School District has a Parent & Family Resource Guide that lists resources parents can use to receive help and guidance. The following are also resources you can access if you need help.
Employee Spotlight – Nikki Fleming, Nutrition Manager
Mrs. Fleming is a great employee and very caring towards students in the cafeteria. She does a good job of predicting how much food we need each day and follows district procedures and policies when it comes to Nutrition Services compliance. I enjoy working with her as she is always cheerful and willing to go above and beyond to do what’s appropriate for students.
