Glenholme School Newsletter

Week 2, Term 2, Thursday 13th May 2021

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Konnichiwa,

We are very excited to share with you our new and improved Newsletter format. One of the most exciting features of this new format is the translation feature. On the right hand side of the page you will see that you can quickly translate the Newsletter into your own language. I will show the teachers this and I know our tamariki will easily be able to show you how to use this feature.

A reminder that we have Photolife School Photos this week on Thursday and there is a new format for ordering class, sibling and individual photos. Please make sure you read the instructions in the Newsletter so that you do not miss out.

A big thank you to Whaea Min, who is our Learning Support Coordinator. Over a number of weeks Whaea Min has worked with a group of whanau members and their tamariki with the Reading Together Programme. If you missed out on the programme during Term 1 and 2 please keep an eye out for it being offered again in Term 3.

Thank you to all of our whanau who have already volunteered to be marshalls at the annual Cross Country event by giving their names to Whaea Susan. We have been fortunate with the weather so far which has enabled our tamariki to train each day for the big event.

This term we will be having the spelling bee which is the major fundraiser for FOTS (Friends of the School). Please look out for the spelling lists and sponsorship forms coming home. There are always fabulous prizes for the students which will be given out in Week 10 this term.

Ngā mihi

Sarah Thompson

Glenholme School Cross Country

We will be holding our annual School Cross Country event at the Tree Trust on Mokoia Drive, on Wednesday 2nd June from 9.45am - 12.50pm. The postponement date is Thursday 3rd June. All tamariki will be involved in this sporting event with the 7-11 year olds running in their age as at 3rd May. The Pukehangi tamariki will run in their year levels in boy and girl groups.

The tamariki will be running over farmland and on a gravel road so we advise they wear running shoes or sturdy footwear. We also recommend suitable running clothes as well as clothes to keep warm before and after they run.

We require parent/whanau help with marshalling on the course. If you could help out it would be much appreciated. Please contact the office as soon as possible.

Wanted - Rugby Coach

We are looking for a volunteer to coach our Rugby players at lunchtime (12.50pm to 1.20pm) a couple of times a week. This will be in the lead up to our winter sports events. If you are able to help us out could you please contact Whaea Susan here at school.
