Deciduous Forests
Mouse
A small prey rodent. Primary consumer.
Snake
A prey to birds, and predator to mice. Secondary consumer.
Kite
Top predator. Tertiary consumer.
Mutualism
Both organisms benefit in a mutualistic relationship. An example of this would be the bacteria in the stomach that we provide food for and the bacteria creates certain vitamins that help us.
Commensalism
One organism benefits but the other is not affected. An example of this would be clown fish and an anemone.
Parasitism
One organism is benefitted off of the other, and the other is harmed. An example would be a flea feeding off of a dog.
How can humans effect this ecosystem?
Humans can destroy the habitats of this ecosystem by cutting down the trees, removing the forest entirely. They can also takes out an animal in the ecosystem like snakes for example. They could hunt them, decreasing the population. That would increase the mouse population and the kite population would decrease.
What would happen if you removed an organsim from this ecosystem?
If I were to remove the green plant producers, then the rest of the animals with die. The primary consumers would die out of starvation, causing the secondary consumers to die of starvation, then causing the tertiary consumers to die of starvation. Either that, or the animals would migrate somewhere else.
