Road Rules to Remember
Now that school is back in
session, here are a few tips
to keep you safe on the
road:
- The school zone speed limit is 20mph.
- When a school bus has its stop sign out, drivers must stop and not pass.
- All car occupants must wear a seat belt.
- Children under 13 must ride in the back seat.
- Children under 8 must ride in a booster or car seat.
- Check weight requirements to determine which seat is best for your child.

Social & Emotional Learning
At home, you can help your child's Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) skills by showing different picture cards of emotional expressions and teaching the names of new emotions (like disgust or shock). This can be as simple as saying, “When I make this face, it means I’m feeling ____.” Then let your child have a turn. Once she understands the gist of the game, add a twist by making a face and encouraging your child to guess your represented feeling.

And Finally...
Reading together 20 minutes a day expands a child's vocabulary and improves academic performance.
