Brooker Creek Elementary

Hello Brooker Creek Families,

Happy December! It seems that we have been waiting for a long time for this last month of 2020 to get here... it has finally arrived! I hope that even during this different time, you can enjoy the holiday season.

Next week at school, our National Elementary Honors Society and our Student Council are teaming up to sponsor a food drive for Metropolitan Ministries. Students are encouraged to bring in canned goods or non-perishable food items. . We will have boxes in the lobby areas of each classroom starting Monday, Dec. 7th with collection dates between Dec. 7th and Dec. 10th. MyPCS families that wish to participate are encouraged to drop items off in the bin at the front of the school. We hope that everyone will participate to support the overwhelming need for families this year. If every member of our community brought in just one can/box, we would collect over 750 items to support our community. Please consider joining these students in making this food drive a huge success.

PTA Giving Tree

Dear Brooker Creek Families,

Once again it is time for the Brooker Creek Elementary PTA to sponsor their Annual Holiday Giving Tree Project. We have adopted an elementary school in Pinellas County. This program enables our students and their families to share the holiday spirit with others who are less fortunate.

This year is a bit different, but we have not lost our spirit of giving. PTA will be doing this amazing event virtually and we are excited to share this event with you. A signup genius has been created with “Virtual Gift Tags” for you and your child to choose from. These “Virtual Gift Tags” will indicate the desired gift for a child. Once you have selected a “Virtual Gift Tag” on signup genius, it will be recorded and logged by the PTA. The gift should be brought into school unwrapped with the tag number, age, and gender of the child attached to the gift.

The signup genius for Giving Tree is available for you and your child to select a “Virtual Gift Tag” beginning today November 20, 2020. Giving Tree will run from November 20, 2020, through Thursday, December 10, 2020.

Please click on the link below to select a virtual tag.

Please return all gifts to the front office, with all the necessary information BY DECEMBER 10th.

Thank you for the generosity and spirit you have shown by supporting this much-needed program. We could not do it without the awesome support of our Brooker Creek families and staff. The Brooker Creek PTA wishes you a Happy Holiday!

Counselor Corner

Hello Bobcat Families,

It is the time of year where Macy’s department store teams up with the Make-A-Wish foundation for their annual Believe Campaign. We are sharing this information with staff and students and hope you will join us in asking your child if they have done one and if not maybe writing one together at home or submitting one yourself! You can utilize the Believe app in Clever or following the link below to help donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish foundation. For every letter Macy’s receive either online or in their big red box in the store, they will donate $1, up to $1 million to help grant wishes of the children who are battling a critical illness. Whether you believe in Santa or not, a letter can be written about what we are grateful for or wish for in the world today.

“It is all about spreading kindness and love, the things we need most!” -The Grinch

As always thank you for your time, support, and sharing in our December Character Word of Month lesson on Kindness!

I wish all of you a healthy, happy, and safe holiday season! Love, Mrs. Prillhart

Cafe Updates

We are continuing to ask our BCE families to preorder meals when possible. When parents spend a few minutes pre-ordering their child’s lunch, it allows our cafe team to plan ahead. These forms allow us to break the meals out by the teacher and have them ready when the students come into the lunchroom and reduce the amount of time they have to spend in line. Pre-ordered meals also help us to reduce waste by only making food that is needed based on the orders.
