Wilson served as the 28th president of the United States from 1913 to 1921
Winston Churchill
During WWI, he served as head of the Britain's navy until he was demoted in 1915 following the British failure at the Dardanelles.
Sides of war
The two sides fighting were the Allies and the Central Powers. The Allies included Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States. The Central power included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria.
What led up to WWI
- June 28, 1914 - Gavrilo Princip assassinates Franz Ferdinand.
- July 28, 1914 - Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia.
- August 2, 1914 - Ottoman Empire (Turkey) and Germany sign a secret treaty of alliance.
- August 3, 1914 - Germany declares war on France.
What Caused the U.S. to enter the war?
The U.S. entered the war because of the Germans decision to continue to allow underwater warfare, and the so-called "Zimmerman telegram," intercepted by the British, in which Germany got the idea to team up with Mexico
How did Texas play an important role during the war?
Many white and black men signed up for the army, while also having the woman signing up for nurses.
How did WWI end?
Germany had surrendered on November 11, 1918, and all nations agreed to stop the fighting. On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Nations signed the Treaty of Versailles, ending the war.
