Bohally Newsletter - T4, Week 8
Principal's Welcome
Kia ora koutou
As we race toward the end of the year, I thought that it was important to touch base with you all to keep you in the loop with end-of-year school activities. But before I launch into that, we need to let you all know that we have 22 cases of COVID amongst our students and we expect more to test positive over the coming days. Please keep any unwell students at home so that we can limit the spread in our community.
On Wednesday 14th December we will be holding our school prizegiving at the ASB theatre at 10.45am. The students will walk down and back with their class teacher. Over the next few days, parents whose children have been nominated for a prize will receive an email and they will be given priority for extra seating in the theatre. After they have been issued we will open up seating for any other interested families. Finding a venue that can seat all our students and all our families is not possible, unfortunately.
On this same day, all students will be receiving their written end-of-year report, so if it isn't given to you, try searching the school bag! We will also have a digital copy should your child 'lose' theirs on the way home! The finish date for our students this year are as follows:
Last day Y8's - 3pm Wednesday 14th December
Last day Y7's - 1pm Thursday 15th December
Start date back for 2023 - Thursday 2nd February 8.50am for all students (both Y7 and 8)
I hope your children all enjoyed their adventure weeks. A huge BIG thank you to everyone who supported our camps this year. The parents I met as I visited a few, were amazing and I want to thank you all for taking time out of your busy lives to support our teachers and students.
Finally, in case I don't get time to send out another email, I would like to take this time to thank you all for supporting our school this year, it was a year of navigating illness with constant COVID tests, but we all survived and got through it together. To families who are leaving Bohally with their last child, we send you off with our good wishes and thank you for your time in our school. To our returning families we look to reconnecting with you all in the New Year.
Ngā mihi,
Nicky

Farewell to Some Special Staff Members
Firstly Paul Sainsbury who currently leads the Marlborough Technology Centre. After 40 years in education, Paul has decided it's time to move on to new interests and challenges. We will miss Paul's immense knowledge and thank him for the dedication he has given to Bohally Intermediate and the Tech centre for so many years. In Paul's place we welcome Jane Ginders from Howick Intermediate in Auckland who will be taking over as the Technology Lead Teacher.
We also farewell two of our team leaders - Phill Johnson and Brittany Ludemann. Phill has taken up a leadership position at Witherlea School and Brittany a Leadership position at Wigram School in Christchurch. Both of these staff members have contributed so very much in their time here and will leave big shoes to fill. We are currently finalising appointments this week.
We also wish to thank Heather Stickland and Maryn Kotze for their hard work as classroom teachers this year.
As a staff alongside the Board of Trustees,\
we will farewell these staff later next week.

Communication
At Bohally we strive to keep our community up to date with what is happening at school. We have three main ways we communicate - our school app, website, and Facebook page. We recommend downloading our school app. The app will allow you to set up alerts for your child's class and activities. This causes a push notification on your phone if any notices are uploaded. If you have any questions about how to access any of these three systems please talk to your child's teacher. Below are the links for you to follow.
