The Court Report
Great start for the New Year out on the PE Courts. Coach Farmer, Coach Washburn and Coach Warfield have been running a track and field unit. All of the students have been learning how to do the high jump, standing long jump, running long jump, 50 yard dash, hurdles, shot put and shuttle run. We have some awesome kids that have done extremely well and even brought ribbons home! Next on the court - Coach Farmer will run his soccer unit next, Coach Washburn will be doing a kicking/football unit and Coach Warfield will be working on throwing using various games.
Parents it is cold on some days to start but warms up pretty quickly. If your child is going to wear a jacket please put their name in it so if left behind it can be returned. So many jackets are left and donated because they go unclaimed and don’t have a name.
Parents a pretty cool thing to help your child learn is to tie their shoes. Lots of students here don’t know how to tie their own shoes. Spend that time with them and teach them it’s a great thing to do together and keeps them safe out in PE.
Heart Health Month is February your child will be bringing home information on how to be a heart hero and help children with heart disease. Our school celebration will be February 15 where all special area comes to PE and we enjoy our hearts and the great job we do at Deltona Lakes Elementary.
Remember to wear athletic shoes for PE. Shoes that have a flat bottom, closed toe and heel are appropriate shoes for PE. Please no sandals with open toes or boots with a high heel they pose potential safety hazards and your child will be asked to sit out that day. Put sneakers in their backpacks and they can change into safe shoes for PE.
That’s the court news.
