Cyclone Central Newsletter
February 26, 2021
TEAM Center,
It has been wonderful to see the bright sunshine outside this week! I hope you and your family have been able to enjoy some warmth and fresh air as we all have had a small glimpse of springtime blessings to come!
We have many bright moments to be thankful for at Center throughout this past week! During our professional development day on Tuesday, our staff continued their work to support students' academic and social/emotional needs through training on trauma-informed practices and how to build "Peak Moments" for students. Our 4th grade enjoyed a fun family Kahoot night yesterday. Thank you to the teachers for facilitating and to the many families for joining in on the fun. Our 5th grade team is experiencing an exciting HR "switcharoo" that has allowed students to move about the school a bit more while still adhering to safety guidelines. It has been wonderful to watch both students and staff continue to grow together as a learning community!
As we move into next week, I would like to thank all of our Cyclone families for making adjustments to your schedules to allow time for our staff to receive the second COVID-19 vaccination. There will be no instruction on Thursday, March 4th, and all students will participate in remote instruction on Friday, March 5th. Teachers are finalizing their plans for the remote day and will be communicating them to families directly.
I would also like to give a shout out to our Center School Association for planning several events over the last two months to support our school. We appreciate all who have been able to support their calendar fundraiser, Scholastic Book Fair, pizza nights, etc...
Below are a few quick reminders for our families:
- Today is the last day to order from the Virtual Scholastic Book Fair.
- There is a Center School Pizza Night fundraiser on March 4th at Pizzazz.
- The last day to order yearbooks is Friday, March 5th.
I wish everyone a fun and relaxing weekend!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY - MARCH 10TH
Remote and In Person Learning
Thank you to all of our teachers, support staff members, bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, and families who are helping us to provide both remote and in person learning for our Cyclones. As you can imagine, much preparation has gone into preparing both environments for our students to accomodate our families' Semester 2 decision.
Because of the coordination involved, any requests to switch from remote to in person or vice versa must be approved by an administrator. Please Note: If a switch is approved, our staff members are given up to 24 hours to make the arrangements needed.
Student Absences:
- If a member of your household is being tested for COVID-19, if your child has symptoms of COVID-19, if your child has been exposed to COVID-19, or if your child has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please keep him or her home, and contact our main office.
- Remote learning is not expected if you child is ill. Students should rest and recover, and we will help support them with any missed instruction once they are feeling better.
- If your child is absent, and remote learning is not requested or approved, we will treat is as a “normal” absence. The student or parent may reach out to the teacher for work missed, and time will be allowed for the student to make it up. Students are given the number of days absent to make up any work missed. If additional time is needed, please contact your child's teacher.
Thank you to all for your patience and flexibility as we partner together as a school-home team to provide a safe and student-centered learning experience for all of our Cyclones.
