Friendly Reminders for our Pirates
Did you know that a fully charged Chromebook will last up to ten working hours? An advantage of having a Chromebook in schools is the length of battery life.
Please note that it is best to come to school each day with Pirate devices fully charged during the face-to-face time together.
School Day Schedules
The Granville Academy K-5 Pirates begin their day at 8:30am and Pirates in grades 6-8 begin the day at 9am. It is very important for students to arrive on time in order to get the most out of the face to face instructional time.
Please click here or the link below in order to view the GA ES & MS Schedules and Procedures. If you have any questions, contact a member of the Granville Academy Team.
Weekly work & Pacing Guides
Pirates at all grade spans are offered flexibility about when they learn, but there is a requirement that needs to be fulfilled each week. Please be sure High School students are following suggested pacing guides provided by their teachers and K-8 students are completing their weekly assignments provided by their instructors.
We are so excited to offer a blended learning environment for our Granville Academy Pirates. Our headline is "Excellent Learning Options for All" and we know that by meeting weekly requirements and following pacing guides this will happen.
GA Box Tops for Education
Granville Academy is participating in the Box Top for Education program! Please begin to collect Box Tops from products within your home! Feel free to ask others you know to help collect them for Granville Academy as well! We will have more information about dates to turn them in soon!
There is a Fall collection sheet that your students could use to help with the collection process.
We are so excited to have this opportunity to participate in this program and even more excited about our family participation with Granville Academy and the PTA this year.
List of participating products here.
GA Google Groups/Discussions
Granville Academy has set up a virtual collaborative space for GA families in grade spans K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Invitations were sent late last week to participate in the web forums. This space will provide the opportunity for families to collaborate online. If you are experiencing a situation with your child's courses, feel free to post about it!
Please know the GA Team is monitoring the forums to learn about student experiences and to make connections as well!
If you did not receive an invitation, please feel free to reach out to GranvilleAcademy@gcs.k12.nc.us and include an email address of your preference.

6-8 Pirate Information
Message from Mrs. Nelson: Battle of the Books
Research has shown over and over that students who read independently are more successful in school, and we believe that here at Granville Academy. Mrs. Nelson's middle school language arts students are required to get a public library card and check out books for a Battle of the Books project at the end of the nine week period. Learning coaches/parents may choose to access any of the library branches to apply for the card and encourage students to check out books and read independently. The project will be explained in more detail in the weekly checklist, but step one is to have the students get a library card and choose a book.
If you have any questions, please let Mrs. Nelson know. She would be glad to help. The library staff at all our branches LOVE to have new card holders and readers and will be more than accommodating.
6-8 Parent Teacher Conferences
Middle school families:
Opportunities for parent-teacher conferences are coming up and we would love to meet with you! Please fill out the Google Form to sign up for a time. Time slots are available on a first come, first served basis. Please remember the time slot you signed up for! If any of the available times do not fit your availability, please leave a note at the end of the form and we will be in touch. Also, please note that if you have more than one middle school student enrolled, you only need to sign up for one meeting time.
