HERDING CATS
Seattle U's Center for Student Involvement's Newsletter
Notes from the Director: Spring Forward
No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. -Proverb
If you think about it, by the time many of our students get here in the fall, they have about a week before the rain starts. And it continues month after month until about this time of the year when the sun returns. Spring is the time on campus when we start thaw our "Seattle freeze" and start to reconnect. In the sun. With sunglasses, of course.
In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. -Margaret Atwood
My reflection on this quote is that it's awesome. And true. The end.
Both quotes remind us about our community, why we're here and valuing the many diverse experiences on campus. There's more activity on campus and more opportunities to celebrate our students' achievements. For graduating students, it's also a time to start reflecting on where the time went, where they're off to next, and how to get there. And how we're still with them on their journey after SU. I mean, are we sappy yet or what?
It's been a busy busy BUSY year and it's not quite over yet in CSI. We've implemented OrgSync (link below), SEAC went through a restructure to focus on Seattle-based programs, we've seen lots of active voices for inclusion on and off campus, continuously busy student clubs, and much more. I think we can officially call this year a stand-out year. And a stand up year.
I can't end this newsletter without acknowledging all of the hard work of our student leaders and the CSI staff. Every day, they work hard to make SU a special place and I can only be thankful to be part of the journey. And as always, thank you, our campus partners and supporters, for your ongoing connection and collaboration.
