If you have played a fall or winter sport your physical and required forms are on file. If you have not, you must have them turned in prior to any team pre conditioning or skill work. DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
There will be upcoming notification for St Louis physical night for the 2017-18 season. The St Louis athletic department receives money back from your participation. Last year we had less than 25% of all St Louis athletes participate. This year lets strive for 100%.
Thank you,

St Louis 5th Grade Girls Basketball Recap
The St. Louis Cardinals 5th grade girls basketball team played their 7th game of the season last Thursday against the Greendale Tigers and won a defensive juggernaut to push their overall record to 5-2. The Lady Cardinals are on quite a run as they won their fifth consecutive game. Tonight’s game was unique in that they secured the win with a strong defensive performance and only allowing the Lady Tigers to score five points in the entire contest.
Key contributors to the defensive effort were Izzy Price, Rhea Miller, Lilly Schebler, Madison Wanstrath, Leah Cossentino and Isabelle Fitzgerald. The leading scorers in the game were Isabelle Wonnell, Claire Saner, Kate Weber and Sadie Wachsmann.
The next game will be Thursday, February 16 at home against St. Lawrence.
Thanks,
Coach Schebler

7th and 8th St. Louis Lady Cards
Last week on Thursday night the 7th and 8th grade St. Louis Lady Cards took on North Decatur.
The 7th grade Lady Cards fell short of a win with a score of 11-20. Scoring for SLS were Ava Allen, Lilly Wonnell, Kate Voegele, Emma Weberding, and Chelsea Robertson all with 2pts, and Olivia Raab with 1pt. These girls played hard all game, but we just couldn't stop their offense and struggled getting a shot to fall for us.
The 8th grade team had an AMAZING game! Score ended 23-25 with a 0.8 second foul called for ND to sink two free throws. Scoring for SLS were Pam Meneses with 11pts, Lauren Gutzwiller with 5pts, Betsy Harmeyer, Lilly Wonnell, and Emma Weberding all with 2pts each, and Olive Cerniliga with 1pts. This was a rough game physically for SLS, our point was taken out in the first quarter with a possible concussion. Betsy Harmeyer stepped up and played point well for us. We came back from behind to tie the game until that 0.8 sec marker. These girls left hurting from getting tossed and around and hustling till the end. ND didn't win this game easy at all. Very good sportsmanship displayed by SLS!
Thanks!

SLS vs Milan 7th and 8th Girls game
Last night St. Louis Lady Cardinals hosted the Milan Indians and both teams went away with one win out of two.
The 7th grade Lady Cards won 20-13 over the Indians. Scoring for SLS were Lilly Wonnell with 8pts, Emma Weberding with 6pts, Olivia Raab with 4pts, and Ava Allen with 2pts. I was very impressed with every single player as they all played amazing D and were able to steal the ball several times. Nice work ladies.
The 8th grade Lady Cards came on the short side by 1pt against the Indians 17-18. Scoring for SLS were Lauren Gutzwiller with 9pts, Emma Weberding with 4pts, Pam Meneses with 3pts, and Grace Eckstein with 1 pt. Having a team that have several injured 8th graders we played a GREAT game against the Indians. All played great D and offense. Thank you to the 7th graders for stepping up, and for those 8th graders left being flexible and working super hard and not giving in!!!
Nice game ladies you should be proud!

St. Louis Loses in Semi-Final Game in Indy
Two game summary below:
The St Louis 8th grade basketball season came to an end on Sunday as the Cardinals played in their final game in Indianapolis CYO Deanery Tournament. St. Louis won their first game against St. Anthony of New Albany but seemed to run out of gas as they lost in the championship game of the semi-finals against a St. Charles of Bloomington.
In the first game against St. Anthony of New Albany, the Cardinals were led by Lleyton Ratcliffe who poured in 17 points as he was 7-13 from the field. The Cardinals took a commanding 17-4 lead after the first quarter and a 31-16 lead going into intermission. St. Anthony was able to trim their deficit slightly in the 3rd quarter as St. Louis maintained a 43-30 after three quarters of play. In the fourth, and led by Sam Voegele on defense, the Cardinals held St. Charles to only three points. The solid defense along with a couple big three point buckets from Jack Forbeck allowed the Cardinals to coast to victory by the score of 56-33.
The scoring for the Cardinals consisted of Kurt Siefert with 2, Riley Schebler 2, Jack Forbeck 6, Andrew Oesterling 9, Lleyton Ratcliffe 19, Wil Freeland 6 and Sam Voegele had 12.
In the semi-final championship game, the Cardinals played a very talented St. Charles of Bloomington. The game was tied after one quarter of play 9-9 but in second quarter St. Charles capitalized on some turnovers and took a 23-16 lead at the break. The Cardinals fought back in the third quarter with tough defense holding St. Charles to only 4 points and along with Wil Freeland’s 8 points were able to tie the score after three quarters of play 27-27. It looked like the momentum had shifted but the Cardinals may have ran out of gas as St. Charles scored 25 points in the 4th quarter to win the game 52-40. It was an uncharacteristic ending to a team that has played great team defense all year.
The scoring consisted of Kurt Siefert with 3, Andrew Oesterling 12, Lleyton Ratcliffe 3, Wil Freeland 10, and Sam Voegele had 12.
Over the past two years the St Louis boys have had a marvelous career together winning 49 games and losing only 5. And over the past two years these boys have not only developed and improved their basketball skills but have shown what team basketball is all about. So congratulations should go out to Tyler Kuntz, Jack Abplanalp, Kurt Siefert, Jacob Wuestefeld, Ben Schebler, Riley Schebler, Jack Forbeck, Andrew Oesterling, Lleyton Ratcliffe, Wil Freeland, Karson Macke, and Sam Voegele for a job well done.
Thanks.
Jim
