As our families enjoy their last few days of their spring break, we are ready to welcome students back and finish out a difficult year on a high note. Behind the scenes we have been planning and preparing for more traditional spring and summer activities including prom, graduation, marching band, athletic competitions, practices, and camps to name a few.
In fact, we will be rolling out a comprehensive in-person summer school program for students K-12 May 24 through June 18. The program is designed to help strengthen academic performance for students that have experienced learning loss through the pandemic followed up by full, in- person learning in August.
We are excited to share that we are transitioning to PowerSchool, an award-winning student information system, to develop class schedules, take attendance, store grades, produce transcripts, report cards, and much more. PowerSchool brings together teachers, students, parents, and administrators in a user-friendly, web-based data system. A link to this program’s Express Enrollment for registration for the 2021-22 school year will be sent as early as June 1. More information on PowerSchool to come.
Speaking of registration, we are currently accepting transfer requests for students living outside the district boundaries and who would like to attend TCSC this fall. More information and application can be found at: https://www.tcsc.k12.in.us/transfer
As a reminder, Gov. Holcomb has lifted statewide mask mandates and remaining COVID-19 business restrictions effective Tuesday, April 6 because of declining state metrics related to this virus and increases in fully vaccinated residents. Face mask use is still required in K-12 schools through the end of the year. Beginning Wednesday, March 31, eligibility to schedule appointments to receive the vaccine was extended to all Hoosiers age 16 and up.
As we start the return to a “normal” life and “traditional” school setting, it represents an inflection point for all of us – for many it is exciting and long awaited. For others, it is being met with trepidation. We understand the many different perspectives and the impact of this past year. Please know we are committed to expanding as safely and as inclusive as possible based on science and guidelines provided by our health partners while providing the best instruction, educational continuity, and learning experiences for our students.
Your patience, flexibility, resilience, and dedication have helped carry us this far. I’m confident there remains ample amounts of these virtues to help us stay on track through the rest of the school year. Looking forward to seeing you on Monday! #Tipton Pride
