Pamlico Sound

Location
The Pamlico Sound is a Estuary located in North Carolina, NC. It is the largest lagoon along the North American Eastern Coast, extending 129 km (80 mi) long. It is actually a part of a large interconnected network of lagoon estuaries (including Albemarie Sound, Currituck Sound, Croatan Sound, Bogue Sound, Core Sound, and Roanoke Sound). It is actually one of the biggest attractions of the Outer Banks and of North Carolina as a whole.
Importance
The Biodiversity of the Pamlico Sound is one you need to see. It really has lots to offer in the way of both research and tourism. The Sound acts like an ecosystem for both human and non-human activity. It also acts as a research facility, using it to research the wildlife and ecosystem. The Sound has also became one of the highest locations for commercial fishing in North Carolina (90%)

- Fin Whales, Cuvier's Beaked Whales, and Orcas (Rare)
- Atlantic Gray, North Atlantic Right, and North Atlantic Hunchback (Critically Endangered)

- Fish Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Stripped Bass, Croaker, Kingfish, Bluefish, and Oysters (Moderate to Abundant)
