This is How We Lakeview

October Edition

Welcome October!

I cannot believe that it is already October! For my family, it means apple picking, bonfires, hiking in the fall foliage and eating anything pumpkin flavored. I hope that you can get out this month and enjoy some fall activities. It also means that my 2 boys have finally found a routine in school, so hoping that your student has too! Our Sunday after lunch practice has become checking the work from the past week to make sure that we start our week off right. If you have found something that works for you and your student, I encourage you to share it as we are all in the same boat this year and could use some tips and tricks to help us out.

Remember to double check with your student that they are checking in for attendance on their virtual days and to check the Classroom Information Page (linked at the bottom of this newsletter) so that you know what they have coming up. Also, check Infinite Campus for any missing assignments as Interim grades will be posted on Wednesday, October 7th. Parent/teacher conferences are this month, check out the article below for more information.

2020-2021 Pickerington Schools Ski & Snowboard Club cancelation announcement:

Like much that has to do with the global pandemic, COVID has forced us to skip this year’s Ski & Snowboarding Club. There are concerns with needing extra buses, disinfecting rental equipment, emergency procedures in the case of an injury on the slopes & in the hospital, among other things. We are sad to report this out, but hope you all travel with your families to get some time on your skis and boards!

We will do our best to get the club up and going for the 2022 season!

Wednesday School

In an effort to maximize the learning opportunities for our students on our in person learning days, PLSD is offering Wednesday School as a form of alternative discipline for students on a case by case basis. Students who are assigned Wednesday school as a discipline resolution by their administrator, will be set-up with transportation, and given notification of the consequence the Friday before their scheduled Wednesday school. The program will run from 8am to 11am and begin on September 30th, if needed. Please reach out to your building administrator with any questions!

*Please note that teachers will not be available to students during this time

Panorama Survey begins October 12th

We know there is more to our students than just their grades. We want to support our students Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) so they can develop the skills they need to be successful in life. Our Panorama survey helps us understand the needs of our students so we can create an environment that is going to help them succeed.

Please see additional information about the Panorama Survey in the PDFs attached here.
