Now that students are familiar with the research process they will be choosing a topic they would like to become an expert in, and writing an informational report on their topic in class.
We have a new reading calendar that will sent home on Fridays. Reading Calendars will be due each Friday. This will help will students forgetting to bring their logs on Monday. Please encourage your student to read!
As part of their home reading, we are encouraging students to work in LEXIA (our online reading software). At home access is free. Students can log in by clicking on the following link: https://www.lexiacore5.com/?SiteID=7925-1381-0565-6024
If you have questions about the software, please feel free to contact me before or after school.
5th Grade: Go Math Chapter 3-Add and Subtract Decimals.
5.NBT.7: Students will be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths.
4th Grade: Go Math Chapter 4- Divide by 1-Digit Numbers
4.NBT.B.6: Students will find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors.
3rd Grade: Go Math Chapter 3-Multiplication Facts and Strategies
3.0A.3,5,7,9: Students will use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations, students will also be able to apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. For example: If 6 x 4 = 24 is known, then 4 x 6 = 24 is also known (commutative property of multiplication). 3 x 5 x 2 can be found by 3 x 5 = 15, then 15 x 2 = 30, or by 5 x 2 = 10, then 3 x 10 = 30 (associative property of multiplication). Knowing that 8 x 5 = 40 and 8 x 2 = 16, one can find 8 x 7 as 8 x (5 + 2) = (8 x 5) + (8 x 2) = 40 + 16 = 56 (distributive property).
