Lucky Dawg Gala & Benefit Auction Final Report

The Lucky Dawg Gala and Benefit Auction was a wonderful success! The Development Department is pleased to report that we netted $102,229.13 from the event. We beat our best record and have set the bar for future success! It is a team effort to put the event on and it is our GWA family and friends who make it such a success. We are thankful for our sponsors, our item donors, our parents who manage the grade projects, those that attend the gala prepared to spend money, and our beloved volunteers! We also want to thank The Georgia Club for doing a fabulous job with the food, and The Guilty Pleasure Band for providing the best music ever!

As a courtesy: If you won a gift certificate for a trip or service in the silent or live auction, please check the dates to make sure you use before the certificate expires. If you won a trip, please send your contact information on to the donor even it you aren't sure the dates you plan to use the certificate.

Velvet Elvis Brought $20,000!

We want to thank Frank and Katie Downey for bringing Velvet Elvis back for the Gala. This year Elvis brought a record $20,000 and the winning bidder didn't even know what they would receive for their donation. This year it was an all expense paid trip to Vegas! Congratulations to Reggie and Linda McFarland for winning Elvis. We look forward to what they will bring him back with next year!

Home Theater System To Raise Money For New Projection System Brought $21,000!

This year GWA auctioned off a Home Theater System donated by Brad Johnson in honor of his daughter Zessie Johnson. Proceeds from the auction of this item were to be applied to the purchase of a new projection system for the Nicholson Center. We are thankful to Dan and Darla Pennington for helping us achieve this goal!

The Unexpected Things Make This Event Special

Everyone knows WHO we raised the money for. It was for every student here at GWA! It was to provide them with the best teachers, the best curriculum, the best campus and a safe environment. One of our students sent his dad to the auction with the message to help raise money for his school. That student was Brooks Martin. Brooks' dad, Jimi, took his task to heart and showed up with a box of cigars that we auctioned off to raise additional money for the school. Because of Brooks' request to his dad, we generated an additional $800 by auctioning off two of those cigars for the benefit of Brooks and every other student here! Thank you Brooks for the challenge!

We had a fun time handing out prizes to our big spenders!
