SATs Week
Next week is when our wonderful Year 6 children undertake their end of KS2 SATs. We are extremely proud of them and know they will all use the week to ‘shine’ and be ‘the best they can be’. As a school we appreciate all our children have amazing talents and attributes that these statutory tests do not assess or celebrate. The children are however well prepared and ready and we will, with their parents’ help, support them through the week. Good luck Year 6, we know you will all ‘SHINE’. Please don’t forget your SATs breakfast, served every morning from 8.30.
Seussical
This is a musical based on a large number of the Dr Seuss books which have been put together to create a fun and exciting musical. Dr Seuss was very wise and we really like the moral messages many of his books have. You might even see some of his wise words popping up around school.
Baby Sour Kangaroo and Baby Elephant Bird Competition
The main speaking and solo singing parts have been allocated to our wonderful year 5 and 6 children, who auditioned last week. This week we want to share an exciting opportunity for two of our children from either Reception or Year 1. We are looking for two children from either of these two year groups, to play the Young Sour Kangaroo and the Baby Elephant Bird. The Young Sour Kangaroo has a couple of lines to deliver, whereas the Baby Elephant Bird just needs to appear on stage.
As it so hard for us to select from all our wonderful children, we would like to run an exciting competition. If your child thinks they would like to play one of these parts, we would like them to write a short letter to explain why they should be chosen. Please can all letters be entered into The Cat in the Hat box, in the main entrance, by Monday 20th May at 9am.
Help needed!
Our last production relied very much on the support of parents and family members. If you think you could help out, with any aspect of the show and the preparations, we would love to hear from you. We are particularly looking for an official photographer, who would be available to take photographs of the children in costumes for the programme and during our dress rehearsal. Please contact the school office or see Mrs Lawrence or Mrs Humphrys to let them know how you can help.
Advanced notice of performance times and dates (each performance will be ticketed):
Tuesday 25th June 9.30am
Wednesday 26th June 2pm
Wednesday 26th June 6pm
Thursday 27th June 6pm
We hope that all children will be able to take part in all performances as this is a very special whole school event. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. Please see Mrs Lawrence or Mrs Humphrys if you have any problems.
Bikeability
Well done to the children in year 5, who took part in Bikeability this week. This is an important life skill and enables them to keep safe on the roads. It was brilliant to see that the bad weather didn’t dampen any ones’ spirits and the children ensured that they tried their hardest. The instructors were very impressed with the children’s behaviour and manners.
