Monday, June 3rd:

AMS students will follow exam exemption protocol as written in the Athens City Schools handbook. A checkout letter and exam exemption form will be sent home prior this coming Tuesday and will also be available to print on the AMS website. Parent and student signatures are required. If the checkout letter is signed and turned in by 1st Period on May 31st, then students can leave after exams are finished each day. Students can only leave with parent/guardian. Regular afternoon car line procedures will take place after each exam session on June 3,4,5. AMS will have a designated area for students remaining on campus in a supervised study hall until 3:00 and lunch will be served. Buses will operate as normal with no adjustments in time.

Mac Book Turn in Schedule

7th/8th grade students will turn in their MacBooks during exam time according to the following schedule. Students who are returning to AMS or AHS next year will keep their bags and chargers and will need to bring them when they pick up their MacBook in August. Any student not returning next year to AHS or AMS will need to turn in all items.



  • Friday, May 31 - 1:00-2:30 - any students who are exempt from all exams
  • Monday, June 3 - 9:00-11:00 - any students who have exempted only 3-6 period exams
  • Tuesday, June 4 - 9:00-11:00 - any students who have exempted only 5-6 period exams
  • Wednesday, June 5 - 9:00-11:00 - all remaining students

Fundraiser Dance to support AMS Cheerleading

When: Friday, May 31st

Times: 6th grade - 3:00-5:00

7th/8th grade - 6:00-8:00

Where: AMS Main Gym


Tickets are $5 and will be on sale the week of the dance before school and during lunch ($8 at the door). Cash only. Concessions will be sold.

AHS Band Parent Meeting

June 3 @ 6:00pm at the AHS Band Room - look for the band truck and enter the door beside it

All upcoming freshman parents are encouraged to attend. We will be making plans for band camp, football season, and Sugar Bowl trip in December

Summer Reading Assignment for Rising 9th Graders

Students who have signed up to take 9th grade Honors ELA are required to complete a Summer Reading Assignment. The details of the assignment can be found at this link:

The 8th grade English teachers will be leading a session next Tuesday, May 28, from 3-4 in Mrs. Downs room to thoroughly review the instructions & requirements for summer reading and will have details about some summer work sessions at that meeting also. (June 19, 10a-12p & July 9, 3-5pm at the Athens Public Library). Students have also been given an application to keep their MacBook over the summer in order to work on this assignment. These applications are due no later than Wednesday May 29th.

Camp Hope

Camp Hope is a free one day summer camp for kids and teens (ages 5 to 15) who have experienced the death of a loved one.


Events include: hanging out with other kids who've experienced loss, crafts and memory books, swimming, fishing, water slides, water balloon battles, face painting, etc.
