From the Head of School...

Dear Summit Community,

The first day of school is nearly here! The staff of Summit School is ready and looking forward to working with you this year. Don't forget to attend our Back to School Night on August 2 from 5 to 6:45pm. This activity is a great opportunity for you to meet our new staff and your child's teachers.

On August 4 we will be welcoming back our Summit families for the first day of school. Before returning, please take the time to review parent information that can be found on our Summit School website at https://summitschoolaz.org/home/current-families/. You will find the 2021-22 Student & Parent Handbook, the 2021-22 Health & Safety Guide, and other useful resources.

Have a wonderful weekend. See you all soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stephanie Nardi

Head of School

The CDC, Arizona Department of Health Services, and Summit School strongly recommend that unvaccinated individuals wear a mask while on campus.

COVID Testing Parent Survey

Please reply to this one question survey. Arizona Department of Health Services is providing free pooled screening testing in K-12 schools in Arizona. This program is not currently being implemented at Summit School, and has been suggested. We do not currently have plans to participate.

For Summit to implement this program, we would need parent consent for testing. Students would swab their own noses and the tests would be pooled by classroom. Preschool would not be included. More information can be found at AZDHS K-12 COVID-19 Pooled Testing program.

Welcome Our New Art Teacher, Colleen Eckles

I came to Arizona 25 years ago and will never leave! My husband of 40 years and I love to hike, read and travel. My 3 young adult children went to all 3 Arizona state universities. I earned my BA at Old Dominion University, my post-baccalaureate for education at Rio Salado college and my fine arts associates at Mesa Community college. My career started in advertising in New York City and Philadelphia and then I transitioned to teaching art. I have taught art to preschool through 8th grade students for 19 years. My philosophy aligns with this quote: “Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.” S.G. Clemens

Sixth Grade Sabrecat Day

Dear Sixth Grade Families,

We hope you are enjoying the summer break! Teachers are looking forward to welcoming students back to campus soon. Sixth grade is an exciting time, as your student will be beginning middle school at Summit.

We invite our incoming sixth grade students to join us on Tuesday, August 3rd, for a special Sabrecat Day. This event is especially for sixth graders prior to their first day of middle school. Your son or daughter will meet the middle school team of teachers, review their schedules for the year, participate in team building activities, and more. This student event is optional; however, we encourage attending if possible.

Join us for Sixth Grade Sabrecat Day!

Referral Credits

Our families are Summit’s best advocates and we appreciate when you share your Summit story with family and friends. We ask for your help in continuing to spread the word about Summit School!

In addition to helping create a thriving community of learners, Summit School has temporarily increased the Referral Credit from $500 to $1,000 as a credit toward your tuition liability for each newly enrolled student of a new family. This temporary increased referral credit amount is for new students (not applicable for siblings of current students or for returning students) that enroll between April 12, 2021 and March 11, 2022. Each credit is applied to your FACTS tuition account after the new family makes two tuition payments for the new student(s). During these stated dates there are no limits to the number of referral credits you may earn by supporting our school! Please contact Summit Admissions or Business Office if you have any questions regarding the family referral program.

Note: Referral credits of $600 or more require the completing of a W-9 form claiming the income. Referral credits are not applicable for voting members of the Board of Trustees.
