The five functions

(1) The skin helps you are to protect you from internal living tissue and organs.

(2) The skin protects you from invasions by invectous organisms.

(3)The skin protects the body from dehydration.

(4)The skin protects the body from low and high temperatures.

(5)The skin also helps excrete waste.


Shingles- a skin rash cuased by varicella- Zoster virus the same virus that causes chicken pox. The symptoms for this disease are itching, burning pain, and numbness. The treatments for the shingles is, chicken pox vaccine or shingles vaccine can minimize the chances of shingles.

Dermatitis- is a variety of conditions that cause inflation to the skin. The symptoms are yellow, greasy scales on scalp, crusty scalp rash, and itching. The Treatment for dermatitis is, ointment, creams to control inflammation.

Impetigo- a bacterial skin infection caused by streptococcus or staphylococcus aureus. The symtoms for this disease are blisters followed by oozing and crusting. The treatment for impetigo is, antibiotics shorten the infection and can help prevent it from spreading to other people.

Top 2 layers of skin

Epidermis- the epidermis is the outer layer of the skin, it is mostly made up of skin. The cells in the epidemis produce melanine which gives the skin its color.

Dermis- Dermis is the inner layer of the skin that contain lymph vessels, blood, hair follicles, and sweat glands. These glands produce sweat which helps regulated he body's temperature.
