2 Important Topics this week
2. Let's make sure your files are backed up !!
1. EdCamp Deadline Extended !!
We need your edCamp Discussion Topic Proposals! We want Summer Institute to be personalized to what YOU find interesting and relevant!
Summer Institute is right around the corner. We still need your voices and minds! We need more edCamp discussion facilitators for Day 1. As a facilitator, you only have to help lead a discussion about an educational topic of interest to you. This is a great opportunity to step up, get some visibility, and be a leader in our district!
"But I don't know what topic I could propose..."
What about education makes you passionate? Angry? Excited? What do you want to know more about? It doesn't have to be about technology; it can be anything related to education!
Think about a session like a giant brainstorm with the collective brainpower of our awesome staffs!
"But I need some examples of topics..."
Here are some ideas already submitted to help you brainstorm
- The role of data in the classroom
- Teaching students with autism
- Motivating the unmotivated
- Teaching inclusion: The good, the bad and the ugly
- Designing PD for the high-flyer tech teacher - what would work?
- National Boards process - worth it or not?
- Personalizing instruction in a standardized testing culture
"But I'm not an expert in anything..."
You do not have to be an expert! You are simply there to help lead the discussion. Just as we see value in our students discussing, collaborating, and debating, this is a forum for us as learners to share our voices and perspectives.
"But I want to attend the sessions, not teach..."
You can still attend 2 other edCamp sessions even if you lead the discussion in 1. Plus, you're probably leading a discussion you are already interested in, so it's something you probably would have gone to anyway!
"OK I'm in...but I need more time to submit!"
We have extended the deadline to submit your resources until Tuesday, May 12 at 12:00 noon. Still not sure? Talk to your media or tech facilitators - they have suggestions and can help you find any resources or topics you need.
"What do I have to submit?"
Your name, school, topic idea and if you have them, some resources or essential questions you already have for the topic.
"Where do I submit?"

Are your files backed up? Let's make sure !!!
In addition, Damien Akelman, Tracey Waid and April Davala at MHS have done an AMAZING set of directions that give step by step instructions on how to back up. Take a look at this invaluable resource. Even if you feel confident about your backup, take a look--- this may remind you of something you forgot!
