Hello, Castle View Families:
We are so proud to share that our community came together to raise over $25,000 for Save the Rainforest! Thank you to all of you who participated in our MAD Week events and helped us to make this truly impactful donation. It's a great day to be a Sabercat.
I hope that you have a safe and happy President's Day Weekend, and as always, thank you for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATION is OPEN until February 27, 2023
The following three things MUST be done before your athlete will be able to participate:
1. Registration on sabercatsports.org site for the sport (out of building athletes need additional paperwork completed BEFORE registering)
2. Upload a current physical - they are good for one calendar year from date of visit and you can use your Dr's office form or the one on the website - we DO NOT keep physicals in the Athletics Office.
3. Payment on MySchoolBucks is REQUIRED to be cleared for tryouts and participation.
Your student IS NOT cleared to participate until ALL 3 things are complete. You will receive an email stating they are cleared to participate the first day of practice when everything is completed. If you have not received this email, you can reach out to the athletics secretary at cgillespie@dcsdk12.org to see why your athlete is not cleared yet.

Navigating Financial Aid Offers
Wednesday, February 22 at 7pm ET | 6pm CT | 5pm MT | 4pm PT
After being accepted to college, you’ll receive a financial aid offer that outlines your financial aid eligibility at that specific school. Each financial aid offer will contain similar overall information but since there’s no standard format they can be difficult to interpret. In the session you will learn how to decipher each financial aid offer so you can confidently determine which college is the best fit.
Space is limited, so please register early!
Unable to Attend?
If you’re unable to attend on this date, go ahead and register—we’ll send you a link to the recording so that you don’t miss this valuable information.
TIME SENSITIVE: SAT Information for Junior Students and Families of Junior Students
Juniors interested in taking the SAT with optional essay must register to do so by Thursday, February 16th.
Students must log into their CollegeBoard accounts to opt into the essay. The CollegeBoard defaults students to the SAT without Essay. Castle View High School administration cannot opt students in directly. The optional essay is only available for the SAT. There is not an optional essay on the PSAT 9 or the PSAT 10.
If you or your student has questions about the benefits of the optional essay, please have your student make an appointment with Ms. Malson or their counselor.
WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF 20 PARENT/GUARDIANS for AP Exam Proctoring in May 2023
Attention CV Parents and Adult Guardians! We are in search of several adult volunteers to proctor Advanced Placement exams in early May 2023. Volunteer proctors will allow our teachers and special service providers to stay in classrooms helping students learn rather than proctoring half-day exams.
Commitment: One 90-minute training in mid-April 2023 and one four-hour morning or afternoon session May 1-5 or 8-12 2023. All training will be provided.
Please fill out this interest survey if you would consider helping us out.
Parent/Guardian Excusal Process for State-Mandated Testing
In Spring of 2023, the following groups of students are automatically enrolled to participate in state standardized testing:
9th Grade: PSAT 9
10th Grade: PSAT 10
11th Grade: SAT without essay AND CMAS-Science
If you wish to excuse your student from any of the above tests, please do so as soon as possible using these directions, also linked on our website. The directions ask that you complete this process by December 15, 2022, but the portal should still be open. Timely excusal will help us coordinate our technology and proctor needs, so please excuse your students immediately.
As an aside, participation in the continuum of PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and SAT allows our school access to meaningful student data that helps drive our curricular and intervention decision-making.
Parking Reminders!
If you have a student who is driving to school at CV, they must have a school issued parking permit displayed to park on campus. Student parking is behind the school, or in the yellow lined spaces up near the Baseball field. Do not park in the visitor lot, FPOD lot, or in Handicapped spaces (unless you have a placard).
Student safety and security in the parking lot is most important. Parking at Castle View is a privilege, and there are consequences for parking violations. If your student receives a parking violation, there will be a yellow copy left on their car stating the reason for the violation. Any questions regarding a violation should be addressed to the Security Office within 24 hours.
Each violation has a fine. The fine for parking without a permit displayed, in a non-designated
space/snowbank is $20.00 per violation. The fine for parking in the staff/visitor lots, CRMS lot, Fire Lane or Handicapped space is $50.00 per violation.
