Freshmen, are you interested in representing your class? Do you have good leadership, communication and team work skills? There will be a meeting for any 9th grader interested in Freshman Class Board. Meet Friday, Sept. 6th at 7:30 a.m. OR 3:30 p.m. in the counseling office. You must attend one meeting in order to be considered for the class board. See Mrs. Dunbar or Mrs. Schnabel in the counseling office with any questions.
Fall Drivers Ed
Fall class begins September 7th and goes thru November 9th. Registration forms are available in the Bookstore or on PLHS website under "Quick Links". Cost is $350 and is due at time of registration. Forms must be turned in to Bookstore by Sept 6th. Students must be 15 and have valid NE Learners permit to register.
National Honor Society
Juniors and Seniors who are eligible to apply to National Honor Society received a letter last week in their English class, detailing the application process. Please look over the letter and mark your calendars with the important dates. Students should plan to attend one of the two meetings scheduled on Thursday, September 5—either at 7:30 AM in the auditorium or 3:30 PM in the auditorium—in order to pick up their NHS application and all paperwork. If students have any questions about the application process, they should see Mrs. Boudreau (room 119) or Mrs. Palomaki (room 216).
Any new Juniors or Seniors to PLHS who have a cumulative, weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher and are interested in applying to National Honor Society, need to see Mrs. Boudreau (room 119) or Mrs. Palomaki (room 216) ASAP!

Youth Leadership Omaha
Sophomores may now apply for Youth Leadership Omaha. This a comprehensive selective leadership development program that brings together 40 high school sophomores from schools all over the Omaha metro area to learn leadership skills in an interactive program with community speakers in a variety of venues.
More information and application packets are available online at http://business.creighton.edu/ylo. The process is completely digital! Please note:
- The Application form, Pledge of Attendance, Parent Permission and Principal Approval Form and two reference forms must be received September 20, 2019.
As in years past, there are no fees for the program. The program was designed for students who want to develop their leadership skills, but may not have had the chance to do so.
Activities will include an opening and closing all-day retreat at Creighton University, and five seminars, beginning in November and concluding with an April graduation ceremony.
This is an AWESOME program for students.

Title I Information
As a parent of a student who attends the Papillion La Vista Community Schools, you have a right to know the professional qualifications of the teacher who instructs your child. This is a requirement for all districts that receive Title I funds. Federal law allows you to request the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher and the paraprofessional who works with your child and for the district to provide you with this information in a timely manner upon request. In a Title I building, the paraprofessionals must meet highly qualified requirements prior to employment. Please contact Dr. Kati Settles, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, at 402-537-6200 to request information.
