Summer Institute for the Gifted
From the Director...
I hope to see you at our final ceremony tonight. We will be celebrating your child's accomplishments, as well as the excellent work done by our faculty and staff. There will also be a be a slideshow that will give a retrospective of the camp, and all the excellent activities we have done during our three weeks together. Even if you aren't able to attend, the slideshow will be made available through the SIG central office.
As we wrap things up here at our inaugural year of SIG at Harvard, I would like to again encourage you to keep sending feedback. We have many exciting tweaks for next year that will make our program even better.

Another Warm Hello From Some of Our Teachers...
Josh finds himself teaching here at SIG after spending most of the last school year working as a substitute teacher for Somerville Public Schools. He recently completed a Ph.D. program in astrophysics at Boston University where he spent several years teaching undergrads about the Universe through introductory astronomy classes. Prior to Boston University, Josh majored in both physics and astronomy at Wesleyan University while playing hockey and helping to coach Wesleyan's field hockey, hockey, and softball teams. Josh loves staring up at the stars in amazement on clear winter nights and generally being outside exploring all the wonderful things the world has to offer.
Hello, my name is Issa Daoud (like Lisa but without the L). I was born in Ramallah, Palestine and moved to Chicago when I was a kid. I spent the majority of my life in the Chicagoland area getting my Bachelors in Business Teaching Education and my Masters in School Counseling and Guidance. My first three years in education were teaching business courses to high school students in Chicago. For the past five years I have been high school counselors in Chicago, IL; Tulsa, OK; Hangzhou, Ningbo and Zhangjiagang, China. I am currently returning to Kuwait to complete my second year at a Bilingual School. My three passions in life are education, traveling and meeting new people from all around the world. I have found the perfect trifecta allowing me to meet Gizzy, a professional hurler from Ireland, tour Vietnam for three weeks and work with incredible students in Kuwait.
I live in Dorchester, and I've been teaching for seven years. I received a Bachelors in History from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and a Masters degree in Education from UMass Boston. I've taught in both Boston and Mexico City. In my free time, I like to play lacrosse, run, and snowboard. I also serve in the Navy Reserve as a construction mechanic.
