Collecting Military Service Item
SARATOGA HISTORIAN TELLING VETERANS STORIES
As part of the Town of Saratoga Veterans History Project, the town historian is requesting artifact donations for exhibits at Town Hall in Schuylerville. “We are looking for several uniforms in addition to photo albums, scrapbooks, service log books, medals, ration books and more from local vets and their families," explains Historian Sean Kelleher. "They each reveal a part of our past. Collectively, they bring history to life and serve to honor our veterans.”
Donations of military items attributed to the military service of people who were born or live in the Town of Saratoga or Villages of Schuylerville or Victory through all conflicts and from all branches of service will be accepted. Artifacts with a direct connection to an area veteran including photographs, supporting service documentation, and/or personal accounts are of particular interest.
In addition the Historian’s office is looking for donations of mannequins to display clothing and photographic tripods.
The purpose of the Veterans History Project is to preserve and make accessible personal accounts from U.S. Military veterans, so that future generations may better understand the realities of war.
