There was a native american uprise and they got it in control becuase President Grant put the army to ''control'' native american affiars. Some Native americans were set up on reservations. The indians wanted there land so a fight was brewing.
1,200 indian warriors prepared to defend their land. An army of 3,000 toops moved in from five different directions. This battle was fought in late August in 1874. The Texas rangers also fought. In seventeen months there was twenty-one different battles!!!
