Choosing Math Courses for Next Year
This week students who are taking IM2 will be given a choice for which math class they would like to take for their 3rd year math course. The choice will be between IM3 (Integrated Math 3) or SDS (Statistics and Data Science). SDS is a new, A-G approved,3rd year math course. Look at the resources below to find more information on it.
Additionally, students who are completing IM3 (also those that are completing Stats or Precalculus) will have additional options for a 4th year math course if they choose to take one. They can take the previously mentioned SDS course as a 4th year. They can also choose to take DMPC (Discrete Mathematics Pre-Collegiate), a newly developed math course from SDSU. You can find more information about this course below.
Please take time to speak with your students about their choices and if you have any questions please contact Aurmon Harchegani at aharchegani@sandi.net.

Counseling Information
Seniors – About Those Financial Aid Packages..
- Make sure you understand the components and terms of your financial aid award package. How much of it is grant (“free”) money and how much of it is loans (must be repaid)? Is the grant money renewable each year if the level of need remains the same? What grade point average must be maintained for scholarship aid?
- A College Work-Study Award is money that must be earned by the student in a part-time job (usually on-campus) during the school year.
- Financial aid packages from schools with similar costs may be quite different; this is often due to the fact that various schools use different analyses to determine how much families can afford to pay. It’s essential for this reason to carefully compare the financial information from each college!
Course Selection
Counselors sent out emails to the Class of 2022 and Class of 2023 students to choose their courses for the 2021-2022 school year. Counselors will be reviewing student course selection submissions and ensuring they are appropriately aligned with diploma requirements.
Summer School
Summer School enrollment has begun! If your student has a D or F on their transcript then sign up for Summer School. Your student has the ability to recover up to four credits through the onsite summer program; two credits each session: 6/21/21-7/9/21 and 7/12/21-7/30/21. During the summer experience, students will reconnect with school, staff and peers as they learn through pre-developed projects. Students that demonstrate content area competency will have the opportunity to earn secondary credit and make-up the "D" or "F"s that were earned in courses required for a high school diploma. Fill out the form below to complete the summer onsite registration by April 30, 2021. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student's counselor.
College & Career Pathways
Even in the midst of a pandemic and the never-ending challenges of distance learning, we had 11 cohorts of freshmen participate in cross-curricular Project Based Learning through first semester. We have two project groups that will be representing Lincoln High School in the Annual CCTE Showcase, June 3rd at 2pm. Special thanks to Jade Khaiaphone, Alani Leonard and Aime Bakundakize and Lathaniel (LT) Barnes for volunteering to represent the Hive!
Class of 2024 Pathway Acceptance Letters hit student email boxes last week! These students will the continue in the revived researched-based strategy of building community and support through learning as a part of student cohorts according to their assigned Pathways. Teachers in each Pathway will work in teams to guide students through Project Based Learning where they will research and seek to understand the needs of our community and using the Design Thinking Model, define a problem to tackle and then ideate, protype and test their ideas for achieving social justice as it relates to the theme of their College & Career Pathway. We are excited to expand our course offerings next year to include classes that are specific to the industry themed pathways such as BioAnimitronics, Technical Theater, Video Production, and Human Body Systems. Teachers with industry-related experience will add additional excellence to a rich tradition of quality classes and instruction such Computer Science Discoveries, Engineering, and Fire Protection Technology. The invaluable lessons from the former Administration of Justice pathway will now be incorporated into our school-wide theme of Lincoln High School Pathways for Social Justice and the elements of our projects. Students will continue to have access to both Law Club (meeting in room 547 Tuesdays at 12:30 and on zoom) and our competitive Mock Trial Team.
Contact Lori Williams, College & Career Pathway Coordinator, at lwilliams7@sandi.net for more information on Pathways, our Law Club or Mock Trial Team or how you and/or your business can get involved.

Students, please look out for emails from Mayra Guillen, she is scheduling you in and administering this super important test! Receiving a Level 4 on the ELPAC will reclassify you as Fluent English Speaker, this means you no longer need ALD classes and this allows you to take a different elective.
