Communicating across internet
GCSE COMPUTING-IP ADDRESSING AND DNS SERVER
INTERNET
1)What is the internet ?
Internet Protocol
2)Explain the need for IP (Internet Protocol) addressing and the role of DNS server in this. Internet Protocol is essential so that data can be sent on the internet. A set of data can be sent over the Internet by being broken into smaller packets. These packets can each be sent (or re-sent, in the case of data corruption or loss) over different routes on the network. The packets are then reassemble in their proper order upon arrival at the destination.
Domain Name System
Humans do not have to remember or type in the IP numerical address because of the use of domain name system (DNS), this is basically a easier way of remembering a web address. For example if you want to log on to Facebook ( IP=69.63.176.13) you would just type in www.facebook.com
What is the difference between IP addressing and HTTP?
IP is a unique numerical value that all device use to communicate and connect to the internet. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)is an application protocol for distributed information systems,HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web.
