Food safety basics
When entering the kitchen, food safety needs to be the number one thing to help prevent illness or injuries that could be fatal. Know what your objective is and the supplies and skills needed to complete the task.
Know your Rule and Equipment
4 things to know
You need to know multiple things to have great tasting food and less kitchen disasters. Of course lots of rules need to be put in place for younger children and even you. All are for the better. Make sure you keep clean, separate anything before it turns into something nasty or a danger, cook meats, poultry, fish, and veggetables to lower the risk of infections and illness, and keep things cool if required to keep from future illness or pesky parasites and mold.
Keep an organized kitchen
Many tools are used in the kitchen, lots are by hand and some are by electricity. Well if you ever mix up the two then you will be in for a world of hurt. Keeping your dishes and machinery separate can keep you from getting confused or accedentaly throwing something down the sink. Also make sure that when putting anything sharp in the sink, put them all in one place and facing downwards so no cuts occur and deplete the risk of infection.
Keeping your hands and arms clean
Most every restraint will require a "Double-Handwashing" method to keep clean but in business places and your home, the standard 30 second hand wash is needed. To keep from future illness and infection, make sure both you and your workspaces are spik-N-span when cooking.
Handling equipment and protecting yourself
Other than needing basic knowledge in the kitchen or around food, you need to know which chemicals are used for certain things. If you are unsure of the chemical, then read the MSDS sheet or SDS sheet for more information and if not found then don't use. Keep everything away from an open flame, don't douse with unknown chemical because it could spread or worsen the flame. Always seek a teacher or professor for help if you are unsure or worried about anything.

Right temperature is the right way
One of the basics of food safety is cooking food to its proper temperature. Foods are properly cooked when they are heated for a long enough time and at a high enough temperature to kill the harmful bacteria that cause foodborne illness.
