Encourage Creativity
Research shows that creativity in students is declining. This activity is appropriate for students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Students are encouraged to be creative, think outside the box, and to share their ideas.
Directions
1. Read the book If by Sarah Perry to the class. You can also find individual pictures from Google Images to project if you don’t want to buy the book.
2. Give students the brainstorming worksheet.
3. Model your brainstorming and your own If drawing.
4. Have students brainstorm at least 5 ideas before choosing one to draw.
5. Have students share their ideas with a partner - lots of hilarity ensues.
6. Provide art supplies and give students time to be creative.
7. Display their work.
