The Wildkat Crossing
PES Counseling Corner: February 2024
Welcome!
What does the Elementary School Counselor do?
The counseling Program Also Consist of...
Classroom Lessons
Each classroom will have classroom guidance lessons that are geared to the specific needs of that grade level.
Community Circles
Our teachers will be leading counselor created lessons each day to build strong connections within the class and work on skills that will help in and out of the classroom.
Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling will be offered to students who may benefit from receiving additional time developing academic, social, and emotional skills along with their peers, and also to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups will meet during school hours over a course of several weeks.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling will be offered to students on a one on one basis regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges and needs. This type of counseling is more short term (not more than two weeks). If the student needs more one on one counseling, I will contact the parent/guardian to discuss other counseling options found outside the school setting. I am also attaching community resources to assist each student if outside counseling is needed.
Lunch Bunch/Breakfast Club
Lunch Bunch is a group of students that will meet during their mealtimes with a specific goal or topic. They can be a one time "meet and greet" for new students or over a longer period covering things like social skills.

Volunteering
According to research from the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education, parent involvement in education is crucial. No matter their income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school.

In order to volunteer in Willis ISD, you need to fill out an application for a background check. You must fill out this application each year. Thank you so much for volunteering!
