GAEA Newsletter, May 2022

Stan Dodson, GAEA President

stan.dodson.gaea@gmail.com

The end of a school year is filled with many rites of passage, and I am sure many of you have been occupied with several. Art shows displaying a culmination of work, final portfolios, honors day, graduations, final goodbyes, retirement, and the dreaded end of year cleaning of the room and inventory of supplies.

Your efforts have made a lasting impact on your community, school, colleagues, and most importantly your students. So, as you sift through the box of catch all drawing materials know that your presence helped many persevere. May this summer provide a time of respite and reflection, yet continue to draw close to your GAEA community for innovative ideas, collaboration, and sustainable best practices. Now is a great time to circle the calendar for our annual GAEA Fall Conference, October 6-9 at Piedmont University. Be sure to read all about it below.

Until we meet again, be well.

Congratulations, President-Elect Jamie Scott

Recently, GAEA held a special election to fill the President-Elect position. The votes are in and congratulations goes to Mrs. Jamie Scott, a veteran visual art teacher with more than 19 years’ experience in southeast Georgia. We look forward to having Jamie join the executive board, working to advocate for the arts, building community, and continue celebrating your art education successes.
