Student Privacy
There are several laws that we should all be familiar with when it comes to student privacy, the iPads, and the apps and websites we use in the classroom. Please familiarize yourself so that you can make sure to follow the laws, and protect your students.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule ("COPPA")
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) gives parents control over what information websites can collect from their kids. COPPA imposes certain requirements on websites or online services for children under 13 years of age. You can learn more at the following links:

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
FERPA protects the privacy of student records and gives families certain rights about those records. Check out these resources to learn more:

Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)
CIPA requires schools and libraries to have filters and protections in place. You may have heard of E-Rate. E-rate is a federal program designed to bring Internet connectivity and telecommunications into schools. Check out these resources to learn more:

What to look for when you are thinking about using an app with students:
