The Social Black Belt
Empowering Our Youth for a Better Future
Dr. Harold Shinitzky & Dr. Christopher Cortman Present Findings from The Social Black Belt Program
What is the Social Black Belt (SBB)?
In the world of martial arts, the black belt is the highest standard of achievement. When one attains a black belt he/she does not look for trouble, but is prepared to deal with any situation that may arise. If there was such a thing as a SBB, the individual possessing such an honor would be equipped to deal with any social situation: peer pressure, rejection and bullying, for instance.
If you had a Social Black Belt you could..
-
Take a leadership role
-
Present in front of a group
-
Initiate contact with a complete stranger
-
Take a less-than-popular stand for an important cause
-
Be comfortable in your own skin despite color, creed, race, or gender
