Dear Baron Parents and Community,
Thank you for visiting our weekly newsletter. We are having a great start to the 2018-2019 school year! We will be sending this newsletter full of updates and information once a week to all parents/guardians, as well as interested community members. Please review it weekly. Below are links to our new bell schedule and the Year at a Glance. First period will begin at 7:05 a.m. Please note that most Fridays will be minimum days. This will allow our teachers time to collaborate with each other, as well as collaborate with the teachers from Bonita Vista Middle. Also review the Important Dates to Remember. Please note that Open House date has changed to Thursday, August 23rd. I hope to see you all there. I am looking forward to a great year!

T.E.A.M. Tutoring begins August 13
Parents: Please encourage your students to attend afterschool T.E.A.M tutoring where they will receive one-on-one academic support in any content area.
Days: Monday - Thursday
Hour 1: 2:26 - 3:25 pm
Hour 2: 3:30 - 4:30 pm

Saturday School
Saturday School begins promptly at 8:00 am and ends at 12:00 pm. Students who arrive late will not be allowed to attend. Students who are disruptive will be asked to leave and may subject themselves to disciplinary action. Please bring class work and leave all electronic devices that do not pertain to learning at home. Please see dates below.

School Site Council Meetings
The role of the School Site Council (SSC) is to annually evaluate, monitor, and implement the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) which sets our school goals and objectives based on student data and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).SSC reviews and approves school expenditures related to LCAP and Title I funds. The SSC is comprised of the principal, teachers, non-classroom staff, parents, and students. The SSC meets six times throughout the school year. SSC meetings are public meetings and open attendance is welcome. If you would like to attend a meeting, please contact Rosalinda Gutierrez at (619) 397-2070.
English Learner Advisory Committee Meetings
The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a committee for parents or other community members who want to advocate for English Learners. The overall aim of ELAC is to advise the school staff and School Site Council on programs and services for English Learners and contribute to the development of the SPSA. ELAC meetings are public meetings. Parents are welcome to attend all meetings throughout the year. If you would like to join or attend our ELAC meetings, please contact the school main office at (619) 397-2000.

For your future planning purposes, if your son or daughter made the football team, there will be a parent meeting in the gym on Monday August 6th starting at 6:30 P.M. If your son or daughter made any of the following teams, the parent meeting will be on Monday, August 13th starting at 6:00 P.M. in the gym: boys and girls cross country, girls golf, girls tennis, girls volleyball, boys water polo, field hockey.
