Principal's Message
TRIN would like to recognize our Educational Services Professional of the Year. Patient, kind, caring, compassionate, supportive and a true student advocate are the qualities being celebrated with our ESPY. Taking great pride in building rapport with students, teachers, and parents, our ESPY works very hard. With jolly greetings in the morning, humor throughout the day, and a warm goodbye to our students, our ESPY makes a great impact on our school community. Always volunteering and expanding the role one has, our ESPY is a strong contributor to our school and our students. Always open-minded to try new strategies, implement new initiatives, and consistently learning and growing is how our ESPY can be described. Our ESPY encourages students to strengthen their skills of independence, responsibility, and accountability while supporting their educational needs. An active member of many charitable organizations outside of our school shows that our ESPY doesn’t just shine their light here at TRIN, but shares it with many others. A true team member and great asset to our building, TRIN is proud to recognize Mrs. Colleen Downs as our Educational Support Professional of the Year.
Intermediate North is thrilled to be recognizing our Governor’s Educator of the Year for 2021-2022. TRIN’s GEOY is a highly effective teacher who is very well respected by colleagues, students, and parents. This teacher always has such a positive attitude and approaches each day with enthusiasm and good vibes and a great sense of humor. Our TOY (Teacher of the Year) is highly involved in our school community and also shares time with other community outreaches which speaks volumes about her. Recognized as an innovative teacher who is always looking to improve the instructional practices implemented in the classroom, this teacher is always putting students and education first! The creative lessons this teacher develops always have students engaged and excited to learn. The goal of fostering the love of learning is apparent in this teacher’s classroom as well as the genuine care of the students in the room. A team player for certain, this teacher is consistently talking to colleagues in the department, cycle teachers, and committee members collaborating on ideas, sharing best practices, developing goals, and analyzing progress to adjust our sails. This teacher is a “Go To” person for so many in this building. Always willing to roll the sleeves up to get the job done and not afraid of a little hustle is a great way to describe this teacher as well.
It is without hesitation that TRIN is proud to announce our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Ginger DeBoard.

Life Skills for Middle School Students Lead to Job Readiness
Middle schoolers may not be thinking about careers yet, but they need to start developing skills that translate to the workplace.
Most students stay busy outside of school with athletic competitions, performances, or other extracurricular activities. Very few middle schoolers have paying jobs, like babysitting or dog walking.
As a result, young people are learning important “soft skills” at a later age, which means that they are less prepared when they enter the workplace. Life skills activities for middle school students focus on real-world applications. Today’s employers expect their new hires to have the following skills already:
Social awareness
Empathy + Respect
Time Management
Critical Thinking
Collaboration + Leadership
Communication + Persuasiveness
