Black History Projects

Forty students in Grades 3-5 voluntarily researched an African American of their choosing that had an impact on the world. They created a presentation to demonstrate their learning and presented to an audience of judges from the community. Students were judged on their acquired knowledge, organization, and creativity.

Congratulations to Ms. Folmar for coordinating and facilitating such an impactful educational learning experience and sharing it with the entire Sussex Avenue Community.

Thank you Ms. Davies, Ms. Harte, and Ms. Johnson for volunteering to be judges. This was not an easy undertaking!

Parents, thank you for joining us and sharing in this important activity and your continued support.

Students, your commitment to learning, attention to detail, and creativity is admirable. I applaud you!

Wellness Corner

The Flu is Hanging Around

The CDC is reporting widespread influenza (flu) activity is affecting 49 states and Puerto Rico. If your child has a fever and is achy, has a cough, stuffy/runny nose or headache, suspect the flu. Tests can be done by your doctor to confirm for sure. Remember students need to stay home until they are fever free (without pain reducing medications) for 24 hours with any illness.

I am happy to meet with any member of the community! Should you like to discuss questions, concerns, or any matter, please contact Ms. Melissa Johnson at 973-292-2250 ext. 6550 to schedule an appointment.
