Student Safety!
We are asking for your help in making sure that our parking lots are safe for students during our busiest times of the day: drop off and pick up.
Student Safety First: Encourage your child to use designated walkways/sidewalks, follow traffic rules, and be mindful of their surroundings. We have a designated crosswalk in the front of the school with a crossing guard. In the side parking lot, students must have an adult with them to use the crosswalk, or stay on the school sidewalk and walk down and around.
Slow Down: Drop off and pick up times are busy for everyone. Please make an effort to put student safety first by driving slowly through the parking lot. Continuously check your surroundings as you drive through and exit the parking lot.
Drop & Go: Having your student prepared and ready to exit the vehicle along the yellow curb will help the flow of traffic during this busy time. Continue to move forward along the yellow curb so others behind you can move up and drop off their students.
Cell Phone Nap: Please give your cell phone a nap during drop off and pick up. Minimizing distractions allows you to stay focused on your surroundings. It's a small step that contributes to a safer environment.
Situational Appropriateness (part 1 of 3):
As educators, we continue to grow our equity lens. One of the phrases that comes up continuously throughout our equity training is "Situational Appropriateness". Here is the first of a three part explaination to give examples of what this might look like at home vs. school.

What is PBIS?
Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a schoolwide systems approach aimed at establishing positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students.
The main objective of PBIS is to teach students the appropriate behavior and give them the support to sustain that behavior.
Ask your student(s) if they know our school's 4 Be's of PBIS:

Free and Reduced-Price Meals, Subsidized Child Care & Transportation:
Beginning with the upcoming 2023-24 school year, the Etiwanda School District is reintroducing the Federal Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FRPM) application as a way to identify and assist families who require financial support. By completing this application, families who qualify on the FRPM may become eligible for subsidized child care or transportation costs, ensuring that their children have access to essential services. We understand that financial circumstances can change from year to year, which is why income eligibility is an annual requirement. To continue receiving assistance, it is important for families to complete the application each year. We encourage all eligible families to take this opportunity and complete the FRPM application. Your participation is vital in helping us identify and assist those in need within our Etiwanda School District community. Complete the FRPM application today and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow for your family! Applying online is the quickest and most convenient way to apply!
