Neuro-Science Training
September 17 Professional Development at Hiatt. Neuro-Science Educator, Anne Marshall, combines science and classroom strategies to help educate and support the whole child. Session will include new information extending upon her ignite session.
Please RSVP to CSINZ@lsc.k12.in.us. If you are unable to attend this training, it is also being offered on September 26th. This will take the place of our September Staff Meeting so please do your best to attend one or the other trainings.
NWEA Accomodations
District information from Dr. Clevenger:
There still seems to be confusion about NWEA and accommodations. Bottom line… if a student has an IEP or ILP and it states they get particular accommodations on state (i.e.: ILEARN, IREAD3) and/or district (i.e.: NWEA) tests, then the CCC has determined those accommodations. IEPs and ILPs must be followed. This doesn’t mean every SpEd student gets accommodations; it’s a CCC decision.
Please talk with Betsy, Jennifer Banning or myself if you are unsure what this means.
Dream Box Goal: 60 Minutes a Week for EVERY student
Dream Box is a district-wide initiative and expectation. Our goal continues to be 60 minutes per week for EVERY child. This data is being monitored at the district level as well as at Edgelea. Please communicate to me if you are having problems with students making the 60 minute Dream Box goal each week Kelly will start adding the data to our hallways weekly.
It is important that teachers monitor student progress for standards that are being mastered, too. Students can be on Dream Box for 120 minutes per week but are not being successful and make little growth. We need to be intentional and use the 60 minutes to our advantage. Dream Box states that students should be mastering at least 1-2 standards per month. At our upcoming Data Meetings on September 3 and 5, we will take a quick look at the data and review how to monitor student progress.
Testing Security Training for LSC
Safe Schools, Dyslexia, Seizure and Epi training, and Test Security Trainings
Every staff member at Edgelea must complete the Safe School videos at Test Security training. A BIG thank you to those who have completed all of their trainings.
Our nurse is asking all staff members to do the Seizure and Epi Training on Safe Schools website, too.
Dyslexia training for K, 1, and 2 teachers is due by September 16th. Deb Davidson, Mandy, and I will be sending out email reminders to those who have not completed trainings.
I know this is a lot and can be overwhelming. Please know how much we appreciate your efforts.

United Way Champion Penny Prather
Greetings from your United Way Coach!)
LSC’s United Way campaign is set to start September 1, and run through October 18th. I will place some information and a pledge card in your mailbox today. Please consider giving to this worthwhile cause. The goal for our school is to increase our donation by 5%. I think that is a goal that we can not only make, but one that we can exceed.
The United Way was given a donation of an Apple Watch for one lucky donation. To be eligible to win the Apple Watch, new donors will need to pledge a minimum of $2.00 each week. For those who have previously donated to the United Way, you will need to increases your pledge by at least $2.00 per week. Deductions will begin to be taken out of your paycheck at the begin of January and end in June. Please let me know if you have questions. You can turn in your pledge cards to me. I will leave an envelope in my mailbox in the office and outside my classroom door (28).
Thank you all for supporting this great resource to our community!
