ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
We hope this finds you well! We have been impressed with the participation and engagement of our students in this week’s remote learning! While this is such a challenging environment, the nature and efforts in collaboration, communication and learning truly represent the CCS spirit!
We have a great deal of information to share this week, so our message is short. Please keep reading, as there are results of our recent water testing available, a couple of surveys available regarding remote learning and parent input regarding placement, as well as opportunities for remote participation in special events.
Take care and please reach out if you need us!
Kind Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra
CVSD SURVEY FOR REMOTE LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION
All families across CVSD are receiving this survey today to give parents an opportunity to provide feedback on remote learning and communication. This data is invaluable as it allows us to make necessary adjustments to our practices, will help meet the needs of the students and families we serve. While the survey comes to all of the families across CVSD, we are able to narrow down the feedback for CCS and adjust our practices accordingly. We hope everyone takes a moment to complete this survey. Every one of our teachers is connecting with students, responding to what they are seeing and available to hear from you directly about the successes and challenges your child may be having. These are challenging times and collaborating with you can only create a more meaningful experience for your child. Remote Learning and Communication Survey Link.
CVSD BAND FRONT PORCH CELEBRATION
CVSD Band Students will step outside their homes on Monday, May 4th at 6 pm to play music to celebrate our local heroes. We will play the famous melody shared in a link from our band teachers to start. After that, students may play anything they want for a bit longer. We hope to do more of these throughout the Spring! We hope you will join the celebration.
PLACEMENT & PARENT INPUT FORM FOR 2020-2021
This weekend is our final weekend for parent feedback for student placement for the 2020-2021 school year. Parent input is one source of information we use during our placement process. Your response can help us plan for a positive learning experience for your child. Your thoughts will be shared with the placement team and your child’s new teacher. Please know that we do not honor individual requests for specific peers or teachers and that our first priority is to create balanced groups of learners. Our goal is to create balanced classrooms full of rich social and academic opportunities. Please complete this short input form by Monday, May 4 if you wish to provide input regarding your child’s learning profile: Charlotte Central School Placement - Parent Input Form
DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP AND TECH TOOLS
We realize that parents and caregivers are all working hard to support students with remote learning. With more time online, additional challenges arise around behavior and etiquette in an online environment. Classroom teachers are setting expectations, especially for class meetings. The district appreciates your support as well. Here are a few resources for families that we've compiled that you may find helpful - resources for families around digital citizenship.
TEACHER APPRECIATION
May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our current remote learning environment limits how we can express our gratitude for our teachers, but it is still possible! We would like to ask families to place a sign of appreciation for CCS teachers in your yard, their yard (or elsewhere, if possible - including in front of CCS if you are driving by). If you wish to do so, please send a picture of your sign to Stephanie or Jen for a digital compilation! ssumner@cvsdvt.org and jroth@cvsdvt.org
WATER TESTING
The State of Vermont passed a new law in 2019 that requires all schools and child care providers to test their drinking water for lead. Samples of water from every tap at Charlotte Central School that are reasonably expected to be used for drinking or cooking were collected and sent to the Vermont Department of Health Laboratory for analysis. This link contains information regarding CCS’s results: CCS Lead Testing Results.
LOST AND FOUND
Our tables are still overflowing. We will have everything out and available to look through at our next Material Pick-up. (No date has been set at this time). We will do our best to get things matched up to their owners. (After we figure out this remote learning, we’ll have some ideas about how to make black Bogs identifiable to kids!!)
