Keeping Kids in School & Healthy - Fall/Winter
As we move into these cooler/colder seasons we will all be indoors for longer periods of time. To help avoid the spread of any and all viruses, please check the condition and fit of your child(ren)'s mask(s). For a mask to be it's most effective, it must sit over the nose and under the chin. As kids grow, some masks become too small and some masks lose their shape and elasticity due to repeated washing and wearing. New masks may be in order. We do remind our students to reposition their masks during the day, but if they don't fit well, it means lots of readjusting for a child throughout the day.
Thank you for your help with this. We want to all be in school everyday!!
COVID-19 Free Testing for All D44 Families
Beginning Thursday, November 4, District 44 is now offering onsite COVID-19 testing to individuals who are symptomatic. This district has contracted with local company TriLabs to provide the testing, free of charge, to all staff members, students and their families.
TriLabs guarantees a faster turnaround time of 12-24 hours to receive testing results. Should a negative result be received, this would allow students to return to school faster.
All testing sites will be open from 9:00 am-1:30 pm Monday-Friday and are located at:
Butterfield Elementary, 2S 500 Gray Avenue
Glenn Westlake Middle School, 1514 S. Main Street
The Administration Center,150 W. Madison Street
Students and their families/guardians can visit any of the three sites. We hope to expand to all eight of our schools in the future and will keep you informed if we add sites.
Each of these three drive-up location sites will have designated parking spots for testing. A TriLabs employee will meet you at the car and perform the test, or provide a parent with a test, and instruct them on how to perform the test on their child.
Please click here for full details about the testing program. You can also click here for a full breakdown as to what to expect at the testing sites.
Parents should know this is optional; however, if your child is symptomatic, you can utilize these testing sites for your child as well as for anyone in your family.
Please know we will continue to accept results from offsite locations, including PCR tests and now; the district has decided to accept rapid tests from authorized testing locations. We will not accept at-home rapid tests.
