Career Info and Opportunities~Methacton Students & Families

Welcome to Methacton's Career Spotlight!

Welcome to the first edition of Career Spotlight, a newsletter for Methacton students and families. It is my goal to share career readiness information and opportunities periodically through this newsletter to help students expand their career awareness and participate in workplace experiences in and around our community. Although this edition is mainly focused on opportunities for secondary students, look for Career Spotlight to highlight career readiness at all levels, K-12. It takes us all to guide our children through their development, and career development is no exception. Let's do this...together!

Skyview Career Day and Arcola STEAM Day are scheduled for Spring! Would you like to Volunteer?

On Friday, April 27, Skyview Upper Elementary School will hold the 7th annual Career Day. During this school-wide event, fifth and sixth graders have the opportunity to meet with professionals and to learn about their jobs and career options. The students gain perspective of the necessary training and education needed, as well as the responsibilities of the professional in the workplace. Members from our community are invited to spend either a half or full day presenting to students in twenty-five minute sessions. To volunteer, sign up here.

Arcola Intermediate School will host the 8th annual STEAM Day on Wednesday May 23, 2018. This school-wide event is designed to promote the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; and to show how the Arts support STEM fields. Presenters who are willing to give interactive, hands-on lessons to seventh and eighth grade students are sought, with a focus on how STEAM subjects are integral to many careers.

Speakers may come for a half-day or full day of presentations, which run about 30 minutes each. If you or someone you know is interested in being part of this meaningful experience, please register here.
