Principal's Corner

It's the most wonderful time of the year! That certainly rang true at CES this month. We had so many fun and exciting activities taking place. Thank you for all of your support, donations, and help you gave to our classrooms to make every day so fun and engaging. Each day I am impressed with the support we receive from parents in this community. It's so refreshing to see parents who clearly support the school and are willing to help out in anyway they can. I know the Holidays can be a stressful time for families, especially when your children are young. I hope that you will keep it simple, spend lots of time just relaxing with your kids, and eat lots of great food. The thing your children will remember the most is the time you spent making memories with them. It doesn't have to cost money to make memories...see below for some low cost activities you can do during Christmas Break! I hope you and your families enjoy a wonderful Holiday Season.

Winter Ice Wreath

Gather ingredients such as fruit slices, nuts, pine branches, leaves, birdseed, etc. Using a bundt pan freeze a layer of water in it first, then add your nature items, add more water to cover it. Let that freeze then remove it and add a ribbon, then tie it to a tree outside. It's pretty and birds will enjoy it.

Activities to do during Christmas Break....

  • Build a snow family
  • Make a snow fort
  • Go ice skating on a nearby lake or at the ice rink
  • Take a drive and look at Christmas lights playing "I spy"
  • Make popcorn garland or a paper chain to hang on your tree
  • Decorate cookies together as a family
  • Make paper snowflakes
  • Paint snow using a little bit of paint and water in spray bottles
  • Have a Christmas Movie marathon with hot cocoa and popcorn

Breakfast will be free for all students this year. Students may enter the building at 7:40 a.m. for breakfast and they will eat in the cafeteria. Students not eating breakfast can enter the building at 7:50 a.m. School starts at 7:55 a.m and ends at 2:55 p.m. Half days are 7:55-11:20 a.m.

School Lunch Information

Free meals for all students will not continue for the 2022-2023 school year. We encourage families to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application below.

Attendance Matters!

Showing up to school greatly impacts a student's academic success. Families play a crucial role in ensuring that a student gets to school safely and on time daily. We understand that absences are unavoidable, such as illness or medical appointments. Please call in advance if your child will not be in school.

COMFY COZY DAY

Comfy Cozy Day at CES is the 1st Wednesday of every month!

BRRRR!!!

As the weather starts to get cooler, please remember to send a jacket, gloves and hat to school with your student. It is a good idea to put your students name inside in case it gets lost!

Counselor Corner

Happy New Year Little Eagle Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful, restful holiday break. As we enter the new year I challenge your family to take a look at your goals for the year. A fun way to do this is creating a bucket list together with the things you hope to do and accomplish in the new year! Take turns adding things to the list and then next December see how many things you were able to check off! Having goals are important, whether they are smaller like learning to tie shoes or bigger like starting a family garden.

* This month our Character Trait focus is: Self-Control *

We will be exploring the importance of having self-control.

Defined as: Managing your thoughts, actions and emotions so you can get things done.

Please feel free to reach out if you are in need of resources or if there is a way I can support your student or family this year. ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or 517-769-8557.

Happy New Year Little Eagles!

I hope you had a wonderful break celebrating the holidays and making memories with family and friends. We ended 2022 with many students and staff members out sick. There were high numbers of positive influenza, Covid, strep-throat, and RSV cases. As well as many students coming down with a stomach bug. Please keep your students home if they are not feeling well and monitor them for signs and symptoms. I have Covid tests available for pickup in the office if you shall need any. Let's work together to make 2023 a happier and healthier year for our little eagles!

May you have a happy, healthy, and successful New year!

Since our protocol and policies are always changing, we can inform you of what we are doing at this time to keep our staff and students safe and healthy.
