Walker's News and Notes
News and Notes
- Please be mindful of what you are sharing with your students. Keep in mind, many are not having the experiences that you enjoy.
- I listened to a webinar earlier this week. The superintendent shared the following: be vulnerable, kind and show the students you care.
- Schedule virtual field trips. The kids "need a reason" to show to your class. Think about and plan fun activities. The attached website provides some suggestions https://www.weareteachers.com/best-virtual-field-trips/ Please invite me, I would like to attend.
Teacher Self-Care
Please make sure that you take care of yourself. The attached article has good information for you to focus on your self-care. https://www.edutopia.org/article/prioritizing-self-care-while-working-home. Take care of yourself and have a nice weekend.

Math Updates:
We will have math 3 days this week. Please remind students, in grades 2-5, to jump onto First in Math and work on their VIFs. Last week, Ms. Chandler's Class, was the team of the week. Will your class be next? Will Ms. Chandler's class hold the title another week? Let the competition begin!!
Have a great week! Thank you for all that you do!

Mental Health tips for Quarantine
3. Get out at least once a day, for at least thirty minutes. If you are concerned of contact, try first thing in the morning, or later in the evening, and try less traveled streets and avenues. If you are high risk or living with those who are high risk, open the windows and blast the fan. It is amazing how much fresh air can do for spirits.
4. Find some time to move each day, again daily for at least thirty minutes. If you don’t feel comfortable going outside, there are many YouTube videos that offer free movement classes, and if all else fails, turn on the music and have a dance party!
